Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The child welfare system can be intimidating and complex to those who work outside of it. This confusion heightens stress for professionals who make reports to, and work with families impacted by, Child Protective Services. This session will help attendees pull back the curtain on Wisconsin's child welfare system and learn about it's structure, process, and practices that drive decision making around child safety. An overview of Wisconsin's Child Welfare Transformation will also be discussed.

Learning Outcomes:

-What is CW?
-What is CW NOT meant to be?
-CW structure in Wisconsin
-Goals/beliefs of Wisconsin CW transformation
-CW process
-Access/screening
-Initial Assessment/substantiation/safety
-Ongoing/In-home vs OHC/permanence

At the end of the session, participants will be able to describe the scope of the child welfare system, identify the three practice areas of Wisconsin child protective services, and analyze the factors that contribute to case openings and closings.
